I'm more shocked that there are Latinx people that don't know the slave trade didn't just stop in the US. I honestly thought every Latinx person knew we probably have black blood in us.

Less than 5% of the people trafficked in the middle passage went to the US.

Less than 5%.

Thats 95% in the rest of the Americas. The majority went to Brazil and the Caribbean (Jamaica got the most people) and Mexico.

Thats not even counting the over 15% who died in the voyage.

I don’t think people realize the magnitude like they think it was huge in the US but they have no idea. It was millions and millions of people.
